The Residences at The Greenbrier are high-end residential projects located at the Greenbrier Sporting Club, a part of the historic Greenbrier resort and hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.  In keeping with the history and elegance of the resort, the houses of the Greenbrier Sporting Club must meet stringent architectural and landscape architectural standards.  At Residence I, McKee Carson worked with the architects to create a site plan for the house, garage and gardens near the ridgeline of very mountainous terrain.  The orientation of the home was established to create views down and along various ridges and valleys while simultaneously minimizing views to the house from the hotel and resort below.  An entry sequence which includes a retaining wall, driveway, stone v-channels and native plants serves the dual purpose of elegantly drawing the homeowner and visitor into the site while also accommodating the difficult terrain and drainage issues synonymous with mountainous topography.  Sensitive design and engineering along with a comprehensive knowledge and use of native plants are integral in maintaining the high standards of development at the Greenbriar Sporting Club.
