Working with a Master Plan designed by McKee Carson principals, while at another firm, our team completed the design development and final construction documents for Onancock Landing.
The Park, located near the junction of the North, South, and Central Branches of Onancock on the Eastern shore of Virginia, complements and emphasizes the existing nature of the town while providing its residents with a place for passive recreation. Native plantings enhance the sense of place, delineating the shore line with native grasses and emphasizing the line between public and private landscapes. A formal entrance improves the park’s street side impact, enticing visitors to enjoy the contemplative and tranquil space. Finally the curvilinear boardwalk connects the visitor to the essential landscape in Onancock, the water. A floating dock, seating areas, and multipurpose access points complement the marine environment while offering opportunities for visitors to fish, boat, picnic, read, or simply rest and contemplate their surroundings.
